Hi my name is Sophie.
Ever since I was a kid, I have had a desire to express myself in different creative ways. Drawing has always been something that I have loved to do. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2017 that I really found out what I wanted to to do in life and began my journey as a freelance illustrator.
I grew up in Witten, a city in Germany. But in 2015, when I was just 28, I made the decision to leave my home country behind and to start a new chapter of my life. Together with my fiancé Peter I moved to Monclova, a city in the north of Mexico. It was a decision, that totally changed my life. In Monclova we stayed for almost 2 years, Peter worked as a sales manager and I worked as a teacher in a private school.
In July 2016 Peter and I were longing for another life, a much simpler one without any regulations. We wanted to see the world and life live at our own pace. We left Monclova, quit our jobs and bought a very old and rusty VW in Mexico City. For the conversion we drove down to Mazatlan, a cute little town at the pacific coast of Mexico. After 6 months the VW was ‘ready’ and we moved in.
7000km, one year and one million breakdowns later, we arrived in the Yukon. Actually in the Kluane Nationalpark where we had our last breakdown. In the middle of nowhere. A sign? Maybe.
We stayed. We found a beautiful cabin in the middle of nowhere, close to nature. Silence. Singing birds and night skies full of stars and northern lights. From the first day in our little cabin I felt the creativity inside of me. Nature inspired me.
I hope you feel the same love and inspiration when you look at my illustrations.
And if you’re looking for a special gift for your loved ones I can help you with a custom Illustration.
