This Might Be the Good Part – A Quiet Reminder to Be Here Now
I’ve started paying attention to the way the light pours into my studio around 4 p.m.
How it lands softly on my workbench, catches the edge of my tools, and makes everything feel golden and slow.

Summer is in full swing here in the Yukon — and it’s easy to miss it if I’m not careful.
The days are long, the to-do list even longer, and there’s always something calling for my attention. But lately, I’ve been letting myself lean into the in-between moments.
Not just the big ones — but the tiny, ordinary ones, too

Like the breeze through the open studio door.
Or how my coffee still tastes good even when it’s cold.
A belly laugh from Kato.
A customer’s smile when they pick up a piece I made with my own hands.

There’s no milestone here. No grand conclusion.
Just this quiet realization:
This might be the good part.
The part we’ll miss one day.
The version of ourselves we’ll look back on and think — wow, she was doing it. She was in it. She was alive in her life.

And maybe we don’t need a reason to slow down and enjoy it.
Maybe the reason is the joy itself.
So here’s to soft starts and sunlit hours.
To markets, messes, and moments that aren’t trying to be anything more than what they are.
To the now.

Because maybe this — this right here — is already enough.
With love,
Sophie
