My First Market Experience: Sharing My Handmade Jewelry and Nature-Inspired Illustrations in the Yukon

This season feels extra special for me as a Yukon artist and small business owner.

For the very first time, I’ll be joining the local artisan market in Whitehorse as a vendor, sharing my handmade jewelry and nature-inspired illustrations in person. Writing these words fills me with excitement—and a few butterflies too! It’s been such a personal journey to reach this point, from quiet moments in my Yukon studio to now stepping out and connecting with the community face to face.

Markets have always had a special place in my heart. I’ve wandered through them as a visitor many times, admiring the work of local artists and feeling inspired by the creative energy. Now, being part of this vibrant creative community as a vendor feels like a beautiful and meaningful step forward in my small business journey.

Every piece of jewelry and illustration I create is deeply personal. My designs are inspired by the wild beauty of the Yukon landscape and the emotional landscapes of my own life—stories of healing, resilience, and hope.

To finally share these creations in person, to see your reactions and hear your stories, feels like the heart of what I do.

Of course, preparing for my first market has come with a mix of excitement and nervousness. As a creative entrepreneur, stepping out from behind the workbench and into the public eye is a big, brave step. But I remind myself: every new chapter starts with a little bit of courage. Just like the Yukon spring slowly unfolds, I’m embracing this season of growth with open hands and an open heart.

If you’re local to Whitehorse or visiting the area, I would be absolutely thrilled to meet you at the market! Come and explore my collection of handmade jewelry and whimsical, nature-inspired illustrations. And if you’re following my journey from afar, thank you for your support—it means more than words can express.

Here’s to new beginnings, brave steps, and the beauty of community and connection.
See you at the market!

With love,
Sophie
