Finding Peace in Everyday Life: Learning to Live in Quiet Truths | Sophie Mutlu
Learning to Live in the Quiet Truths
The older I get, the more I realize that life is less about chasing and more about noticing.
It’s not in the grand gestures or the perfectly planned days that I feel closest to myself—
it’s in the quiet truths.

Like the way Kato’s small hand still reaches for mine when we cross the road.
Or the silence of the forest, where the only sound is our breath and the rhythm of our steps.
Like laughter spilling in a kitchen late at night, the kind that reminds you you’re not alone.
These are not the moments anyone claps for.
They won’t be written about in history books or make headlines.
But they are the ones that anchor me when everything else feels uncertain.
Healing, growth, even love—it’s not always loud.
It’s not always a breakthrough or a perfect story arc.
Sometimes it’s just choosing to show up to your own life again and again.
To say: this is enough, and I am enough in it.

Maybe that’s what freedom really is—
to stop performing, to stop proving,
and to start noticing the life that is already here.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know this:
When I pay attention to the small things,
I begin to see the bigger picture.
And it’s softer, truer, and far more beautiful than anything I thought I was supposed to chase.
With love,
Sophie
